Campus Antiwar Network to host Midwest Regional Conference April 18-20

Description: 

Hundreds of peacemakers will converge at the University of Iowa in Iowa City on April 18-20 for the Campus Antiwar Network's Midwest Regional Conference.

The Campus Antiwar Network is an independent, democratic, grassroots movement spreading like a prairie fire across the Midwest and the rest of the country.

The Midwest Region of the Campus Antiwar Network has chapters at The University of Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Wisconsin State Technical College , the University of Illinois - Chicago, the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign, Northeastern Illinois University, Northwestern Illinois University, Ohio State University, South Daokta State University, the University of Cincinnati, and Kent State University.

Special invited guests are scheduled to include Iraq Veterans Against the War and the RNC Welcoming Committee.

The Campus Antiwar Network's Midwest Regional Conference is open to all interested individuals, organizations, and other relevant parties.

Dayton Rally and March for Darfur

Description: 

Dayton for Darfur has planned a rally and march for Saturday, April 19. The rally will begin at Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton. A march will then lead the rally from Courthouse Square to the Dayton Convention Center. The purpose of the rally is to educate the public about the genocide in Darfur, to increase lobbying efforts, and to raise funds to contribute to the Save Darfur Coalition and Doctors Without Borders. The April 19 event will feature select speakers, including a refugee from Darfur and interested policy-makers. Cosponsors of the event include: Amnesty International, The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), The Dayton Circus, The Dayton International Peace Museum, Genocide Intervention Network, Ginghamsburg Church, The Jewish Community Relations Council, the Save Darfur Coalition, Save the Children, STAND (University of Dayton chapter), and Wright State University Physicians for Human Rights. Literature and merchandise will be available, and preprinted letters and petitions will circulate.
