New Albany for new HQ
Women’s apparel retailer Limited Stores LLC could put its headquarters into the New Albany Business Park, assisted by a package of relocation incentives put together by the village.
The retailer expects to move 145 employees in early 2010 into about 50,000 square feet at either the building at 6530 W. Campus Oval or a speculative office building at 7775 Walton Parkway at Water’s Edge.
Limited Stores CFO John Buell, a New Albany resident, confirmed the company’s interest in moving into either building from the Morse Road office complex of Limited Brands Inc., which sold a majority interest in the Limited Stores division two years ago to Sun Capital Partners Inc.
A decision on Limited Stores’ headquarters choice is expected to be made in August.
“New Albany is an ideal location,” Buell said. “We found two great options for space in close proximity to our current home office.”
Village Council approved a measure July 21 outlining five-year incentives for the properties.
Jennifer Chrysler, village director of community development, said municipal officials had informed Limited Stores representatives during the past 18 months about the speculative Water’s Edge building. In recent months, they began showing interest in the West Campus Oval property, which was built in 1998.
Chrysler said that offering financial incentives on competing properties before the prospective tenant reveals a preference can help a company make its decision.
“Companies in this economy are being more cautious about having the due diligence complete before making their final decision,” she said. “These are two buildings that meet (Limited Stores’) needs. It’s a tough decision to make.” continue...
