Human Trafficking - Everyone Can Help

For some years now, I have been listening to radio interviews with Jim Rothstein, retired NYPD detective, now living in Minnesota.  Jim has been describing his lifetime work, both as a police officer and retiree, trying to serve and protect victims of human trafficking, particularly child sex trafficking.  He has now developed a way all of us can help.

In December 2012, Jim described, on the radio, a project he has had some success with in the St. Cloud, Minnesota area.  His idea is to gather (primarily) mothers, and visit officials who have the authority to either pursue trafficking cases, or, all too often, to order officers or district/crown attorneys OFF trafficking cases.

This group is named "Mothers Against Trafficking."

Local Group Highlight: Redbird Prison Abolition

If you've been around Columbus in radical circles for the past year or so, you've likely heard about Redbird. These folks work diligently to keep folks aware of the growing number of people in prison. They write letters, run errands, research, transcribe, fundraise, and support prisoners in all kinds of other ways. They also put on events to help educate the rest of us about what's really going on.

Prisons are nasty. Yet, the Prison Industrial Complex is stronger today than its ever been. It's going to take all of us working together in order to win this fight.

Occupy GMO Candidate Protest Coming October 17th

ACTION ALERT:

On Wednesday, October 17, one month after the commencement of the Occupy Monsanto Global Week of Action, we are calling for Occupy Monsanto GCU Field Agents across America to stage Decontamination Events at your nearest campaign office of Romney or Obama. For GCU Field Agents located outside of America, we suggest staging another demonstration at your nearest Monsanto facility or symbol of American toxic agriculture.

Why? Both presidential candidates are avoiding the GMO issue because both candidates tak
e money from Monsanto. Therefore its up to us to force them to take a position on GMOs.
