Speculators blamed for driving up price of basic foods as 100 million face severe hunger

The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) confirmed in a recent paper what President Chavez has often argued: that growing crops to produce biofuels endangers the food supply in developing nations. To help offset the worsening food supply crisis in Haiti, Venezuela recently donated over 600 tons of food to the impoverished Caribbean nation.
