A Democratic Socialist Perspective on the Current Economic Crisis.
Rudy H. Fichtenbaum, Professor of Economics at Wright State University, will talk about the origins of the current economic crisis. The prevalent view among mainstream economists is that the current crisis stems from regulatory failure and other mistakes. Dr. Fichtenbaum will argue that this type of crisis is endemic to capitalism. He will also address the bailout for banks and the current debate over the stimulus package now being considered in Congress and a progressive plan for dealing with the crisis.
